Researchers have recently uncovered a possible link between repeated miscarriages and a risk of heart attack later in life.

The data was strongest in women with three or more spontaneous miscarriages. Those women were found to be five times more likely to encounter heart trouble, including a risk of heart attack, later in their lives. The research was reported by Dr. Elham Kharazmi, working with the German Cancer Research Center. The research center is located in Heidelberg, Germany. However, the link only exists in women who encounter spontaneous miscarriage, not induced abortion. The cause of the link between miscarriages and heart attacks is not entirely known, but it is theorized that the conditions that cause the two situations may be similar. Poor vascular health which will can lead to heart failure may also lead to poor placental function.

The American Heart Association says that current methods for risk analysis often underestimate the true risk of women who may be susceptible to heart disease. This is due to the fact that since heart disease is so common in men, the analysis that traditionally has been done is not defined as well as it should be for women, leading to more missed diagnosis. miscarriages-may-lead-to-heart-failure
