Michael Douglas is staying optimistic and has vowed to beat stage 4 throat cancer, but numerous articles have suggested the actor has been readying himself for his death and is preparing his will.
The ‘Wall Street’ star who has two children with wife Catherine Zeta Jones, as well as 31-year-old Cameron from his previous marriage, has dismissed those reports that he is preparing for the worst possible outcome.
His longtime publicist and friend Allen Burry says reports claiming the actor is on his deathbed and that his father and stepmother are moving to New York to be by his side are untrue.
“It’s been very difficult,” says Burry. But the publicist adds that Douglas’s doctors “are very pleased with how he responded to treatment. They think he’s doing really well. He’s doing as well as can be expected.”
The 66-year-old actor has ended eight weeks of grueling chemotherapy sessions and no new treatments are scheduled. The chemotherapy left a burn on the base of Douglas’ tongue that encompassed a very large portion. The radiation burned his tongue and caused damage to normal tissue as well as the cancer. Douglas receied radiation to his neck as well.
Filmmaker Oliver Stone says he is worried about the health of Douglas.
While promoting Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps in Berlin, Stone said Douglas’ “precarious” health prevented him from embarking on the film’s European tour.
Michael, I don’t know if you will read this but I want to say to all of the jerks that take close up photos of you when you are sick. “You are awful” Michael,just stay strong and fight the fight. I am a four year throat cancer survivor. I know what you have, and are going through. The side effects of the treatment are by far the hardest part. Radiation and chemo cause such painful mouth sores that eating is nearly impossible. Weight loss is dramatic. But Michael, those sores will heal. Your appetite will return, and you will recover. You’re tough like your dad. It’s in your genes. Hang in there, life is worth fighting for!

Michael, I also have just completed cancer treatments for the same type you have. My lastest Pet scan was clear. I went through 11 weeks of chemo and 35 radiation treatments. It took 8 weeks for my taste to come back and it is still not all the same. Most foods and liquids taste like salt.Had the feeding tube removed after 14 weeks total. Am gaining a little weight back too. My doctors think that they got it all and hope it will not return. Time will tell.I now live like never before. This was an eye opening experience and I would not wish anyone to have to do it either.But I have learned to treat my life with more respect then ever before. I am a little younger than you and at 56 I still have a lot of living left to do!! So I hope for you that all works out as it is supposed to. Good luck.
Michael, I grew up watching The Streets of San Francisco, and since then I have admired and respected you. I am sure you will get a victory from the throat cancer, you never know that this terrible disease can be a high learning tool for others, maybe for your son Cameron or many other people that may see this as a warning flag. Michael, I just want to say keep fighting! I’m now 12 years post rad & chemo for head & neck CA. My treatment plan was for 8 wks and I was stage 4 advanced as well. I had the same difficulities, stomach tube, weight loss, etc. But now 12 years later my only “problem” is dry mouth which leads to swallowing problems. Water, gum & a product called Oral Balance while I sleep is all i need. Life is good. God Bless!

We spent some time together in Manhattan, but I was Very Young and Very Stupid. I’ve had a crush on you ever since. Please Get Better. I Know you Will. Mike, I’m going through it too but at not anything like your are facing, They did laser surgery on my lower mouth and removed a little of my tongue. I’m a male/ 44 and smoked too* I’m currently able to eat again and on chantix. I love you brother and Pray for your soul and Wonderful Life and enjoyment you gave to MILLIONS… God, promised* The after life in Heaven cannot even be fathomed by us Humans
I’m sorry to say, but the picture says all there is to say. Within a matter of weeks he now looks like his father. In my opinion, of someone who has family who died from this horrible horrible side effect of being human, I think time is short for him. And it is sad. Terribly sad. What a disgusting thing nature has created. And many times with almost no warning to zero warning!

Michael my prayers are with you as you battle cancer. I have always been a big fan of yours since i was a a little kid watching you and Karl Malden on the streets of San Francisco. You were a pure gentleman when you came on David Letterman and revealed you had throat cancer. I am a cancer survivor (Nasal Pharyngeal) and had chemo and radiation to my mouth and throat which caused sores, burns and difficulty swallowing, I lost over 60 pounds over 4 months. But through the grace of God I survived, and it has been 9 years. So put your trust in God and he will lead you through. I am praying for you. God Bless you.
mr. douglas i am 55 years old,iam recoverying from squamous cell carsunoma. it has taken 10 months until i began to feel better. my cancer was in my throat and base of tongue.it takes a while, but your recovery is going to happen. my wife told me about you, when i was in mt treatment, and we have been praying for you among the others that i new at the cancer center.life is great and you are going to be a wonderful part of the rest of are lives, recovery.
