Actor Michael Douglas is nearing the end of the radiation and chemotherapy treatments that he has been undergoing for eight weeks to treat throat cancer. According to Douglas’ publicist, the star has just one more treatment to complete.
Douglas announced in August 2010 that he had been diagnosed with stage four throat cancer. Despite such a grim news, doctors have told Douglas that they believed he had well over a 75% chance of successfully beating back the disease. Douglas is the son of legendary actor Kirk Douglas and the husband of the beautiful and talented actress, Catherine Zeta-Jones. The actor has won several Golden Globe Awards and Academy Awards for his work with and on the films ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’, where he acted as producer and for his appearance in the first ‘Wall Street’ movie. Douglas has also been awarded an AFI Lifetime Achievement Award. He and his wife own several properties, and with their two children Dylan and Carys, divide their time living amongst the US and Canada.
The actor and his wife are heavy supporters of the anti-war movement. Douglas has supported strict gun control laws since 1980 after his dear friend, former Beatles member John Lennon, was shot to death. Douglas is also involved with several humanitarian efforts and has publicly denounced the treatment of Muslim women, putting forth his support in the human rights movement to save Iranian woman Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani from being stoned to death for having committed adultery in 2007. Ashtiani’s death sentence has temporarily suspended and is under review.
Douglas has said that the latest ‘Wall Street’ movie would likely be his last so that he could shift and focus his attention on his family.

I to am a victim of throat cancer and had to undergoe radiation therapy
Thank God they caught it at the early stages of stage 2 and consequently the chances of recovery was excellent
Michael was at stage 4 which is not good as the recovery chances are unknown
He and I were heavy smokers which probably caused the cancer to begin with
Lets pray for Michael and a full recovery
i hope michael does well with his treatments and recovers fully. and maybe someone with his star status can bring more focus to the cure of all cancers.

I’ve been a fan of Mr. Douglas’ since his role on “Streets”. I’ve always thought of him as a consummate professional and so fortunate to have come up in a family which generationally supported his ambitions in acting. The social shortcomings of his sibling(s) not-withstanding, he has persevered and reached pinnacles his family must truly applaud. My sincerest sympathy goes out to his family and him. These times bring out people’s greatest strengths and shortcomings. Roll with it all and resist snapping. One day at a time my friend.

My sister and my grandfather died of throat cancer. As soon as I heard that Mikeal Douglas had throat cancer I have been praying for him every day.
Keep going strong Mr. Douglas. You will beat this just like you’ve conquered everything else. You are the best .

I had similar dianogis Sept 2008 and went through surgery, radiation, and chemo. Doing well now and hope you come thru this as well as I have.

My husband finished chemo and radiation treatments for cancer at base of the tongue and in lymph nodes in neck. He was highly compromised physically because of the treatments. tomorrow he goes for the CT and PET scans to prove he has been healed. We give God the glory!
