Do you eat a lot of fish in your diet? If you do then you may be helping to improve your health without even knowing it. Researchers recently conducted a scientific study that was recently published in the journal of British Medical Association. The study found that people who consume fish actually help to reduce their risk of contracting bowel cancer.
The study was conducted on fifty five patients who were at high risk for developing polyps that lead to bowel cancer. The study took approximately six months and had the researchers give twenty eight patients high daily dosages of omega 3 and the other twenty seven participants were given just a placebo. Omega 3 fatty acids are found in fish and can have beneficial health benefits.
The study found that the people who took omega 3 daily reduced their number of polyps by twelve percent. The people who were given the placebo only had their polyps increase by ten percent. This proves that omega 3 can actually be beneficial to helping people reduce pre-cancerous polyp growth and reduce their cancer risk. If you are at risk for bowel cancer you may want to skip the chicken and choose the fish a few more times per week to help you reduce your risk for bowel cancer.
