As reported earlier this morning, actor Peter Graves passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010. He was found in his Los Angeles home by his publicist, Sandy Brokaw. Although it appears that the famous actor died from a heart attack, the official cause of death is still unknown.
It is said that, upon returning from a late brunch with his family, the actor collapsed before entering his home. CPR administered by his daughter was not enough to save him. At the time of his death, Peter Graves was 83 years old. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, three daughters, and six grandchildren, who will surely miss the famous actor, husband, father, and grandfather.
Graves’ acting career was a lengthy one, spanning a period of more than 60 years. He was best known for his recurring television role of Agent Phelps in the CBS series “Mission: Impossible.” In 1971, Graves won a Golden Globe award for his work in the television series. He also gained fame for playing the role of Captain Clarence Oveur in the film “Airplane,” and Colonel John Camden in the WB television series “7th Heaven.” He also hosted the Biography series. Graves was born in Minneapolis.
