After struggling for years with substance abuse problems, actor Corey Haim died early this morning from an overdose of prescription drugs. Haim had admitted on several occasions that he fought substance abuse problems, most notably cocaine and valium, and had entered rehab programs more than 15 times.

Haim was a famous 80’s kid star, with his most memorable part in the Lost Boys. Many remember Haim as one of the “Corey’s”, as his best friend actor Corey Feldman. Recently the two have gone their separate ways. Haim stating that he was just tired of the “Corey’s” stigma.

Haim has openly talked about his drug problems in the past. Stating that he started smoking pot at age 15 the problem escalated from there. When asked if he would change his past, he simply stated “no”. He believed all the experience he had gained in his life would be gone if he changed anything, even his addiction, in his past.

Haim was at the Hollywood home of his mother when the event that led to his death took place. An ambulance was called, and at 3:40PT Haim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Haim’s mother is said to have stated to police that he had not been feeling well for a couple of days.
