How is pancreatic cancer linked to sodas? The reason for this is that sodas have such a high level of sugar that it makes the insulin level increase and by doing this, it causes cancer cells to grow in the pancreas.

A study on this was done in Singapore. A group of 60,524 men and women were followed for 14 years. Of those people, 140 developed pancreatic cancer. It was observed that these people drank soda twice a week. A researcher from the University of Minnesota, Mark Pereira, said that people who do drink these sweetened sodas, usually have poor health habits. Those people who drank fruit juice instead of soda during this study were not affected by any cancer cells.

Although the study focused entirely on Asians, the research can be transferred to other countries as well. Singapore is a country known for its excellent health care and the people there like to eat and shop.

The soft drink company says that sweetened sodas do not give you cancer. They say that in order to be cancer free, you must eat and drink in moderation and get exercise on a regular basis.

Jennifer Sygo, who works for the Cleveland Clinic as a nutritionist, suggests that if a person needs something lilke a sweetened soda, that they opt for juice, instead, and if they need the carbonation, she suggests Perrier. sugar-soft-drinks-pancreatic-cancer1

  1. This doesn’t really make that much sense.

One 12oz can of pop contains 38g of sugar. That equals to 3.1g of sugar per oz.

I compared it to Yoplait original yogurt. One serving is 6oz which contains 27g of sugar. That equals to 4.5g of sugar per oz.

People would eat more of the yogurt since it has such a small serving size. So why doesn’t it cause pancreatic cancer as well? That’s just 1 example I found…there are probably hundreds more that are out there. I’m just curious why they aren’t labeled as a carcinogen too.
