With Help Arriving, Haitians Reeling In Despair Johnson & Johnson, one of the world’s largest and most recognized pharmaceutical companies known for the baby products they produce, issues a massive drug recall on six of their most well know “OTC” medicines.

After consumers complained about a musty, mildew ridden smell emanating from the bottles, as well as a few cases of gastrointestinal problems, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea the company issues its recall on these following drugs. With a investigation under way McNeil Consumer Healthcare has reported that the contamination was caused by a chemical called, 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA) which is sometimes used to treat the wood that shipping pallets and storage containers are made from. They announced that all of the companies using these shipping pallets and containers to stop using them immediately. They are also furthering their investigation into the issue.

In an official update, a statement from an agent of the FDA said they were very unhappy with the way Johnson and Johnson handled this situation, considering they were aware of the problem back in September of 08. Issuing them a formal warning, claiming they violated government standard quality rules. Stating they had expected a quicker course of action.
