Farrah Fawcett’s former producer admitted to several news sources including the Associated Press and RadarOnline.com that the actress was checked into a Los Angeles hospital, but is “not on death’s door.” This news comes out just as reports are confirmed that her son 24-year-old Redmond O’Neal was arrested Sunday morning on charges of trying to smuggle drugs into a country jail.
Farrah Fawcett began her career in the late 1960’s doing commercials and TV guest spots. A Pro Arts Inc pin up poster and a starring role in the hit series Charlie’s Angels propelled her to stardom. After leaving the show she continued to star in movies and on television and has received three Emmy Award nominations.
Her decade long marriage to Lee Majors the star of The Six Million Dollar Man ended in 1982 and Fawcett became romantically involved with actor Ryan O’Neal. Redmond O’Neal their son was born in 1985. Redmond’s history of drug problems and arrests started in his teens.
Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in October of 2006 and began treatment for the condition including chemotherapy immediately. On the star’s 60th birthday, she publicly announced that she was cancer free and hoped her story would inspire others to fight the disease.
According to the Los Angeles Times Redmond O’Neal was arrested during a routine security check in the parking lot of the Pitches Detention South Facility in Santa Clarita, California. Redmond was already on probation for an earlier arrest and guilty plea last June involving charges of possession of crystal methamphetamine and heroin.
Reports soon followed that Farrah Fawcett was rushed to the hospital several days earlier and her condition listed as critical. On Monday writer and producer Craig Nevius who’s worked with Fawcett announced her condition wasn’t as serious as initially reported. No announcement has been made regarding why Fawcett is hospitalized, or when she might be released.
