The FDA says Terra Bella, California-based Setton Pistachio is recalling around one million pounds of pistachio products over salmonella concerns. The FDA says Terra Bella, California-based Setton Pistachio is recalling around one million pounds of pistachio products over salmonella concerns.

Terra Bella processed pistachios linked to a countrywide recall of Back to Nature Nantucket Blend trail mix and bagged nuts from Kraft Foods, Inc., because of a possible salmonella contamination.

The tainted nuts have been linked to several strains of salmonella, which can cause severe and occasionally fatal infections in people with weak immune systems, such as children and the elderly.

The Food and Drug Administration was first informed of the trouble on March 24, when it was advised by Kraft Foods that its Back To Nature Trail Mix was discovered to be contaminated with Salmonella. Kraft had identified the source of the contamination to be pistachios from Setton and conducted a recall.

The Food and Drug Administration is now cautionary people to stop eating all foods containing pistachios until they can find the source of the contamination.

This recall is not connected at all to the recent peanut recall and as of yet no one has gotten sick from the pistachios.
