Research shows that a person who eats  a quarter pound of red meat per day faces substantial chance of getting cancer, ulcers, Alzheimer’s disease and other medical illnesses that can cut a life span.

The United States National Cancer Institute report stated even once additional elements were reported, the biggest meat-eaters were more probable to die during the next 10 years than the those who consumed the lowest amount of meat.

The Beef Industry would like you to think that red meat is what’s for dinner and is totally healthy. Red meat may increase iron levels, and contain higher levels of protein for muscle growth and development, but at what price? Particularly when the protein gains can come from lean fish and chicken, and iron from green leafy vegetables.

“Diets higher in saturated fats, including red meats, do contribute to an early mortality,” says Dr. Michael Gimbel, Genesis Interventional Cardiologist.

But Doctor Gimbel acknowledges there are a few problems with the reports conclusion. In it, more than 500,000 middle-aged and elderly Americans (50 - 71) were asked to account for their daily food intake. The report states those who consumed about four ounces of red meat every day, were more than 30% more likely to die during the 10 years they were followed.
