The 11th annual 'Fittest/Fattest Cities' revealed that Salt Lake City was the fittest city with Colorado Springs in second place. Minneapolis came behind in third.

The 11th annual ‘Fittest/Fattest Cities’ revealed that Salt Lake City was the fittest city with Colorado Springs in second place. Minneapolis came behind in third. Miami was dubbed the fattest city in the US.

Men’s Fitness magaizine conducts an annual survey to compare US cities and find which have the poorest health due to weight. Residents are polled about their exercise routines and daily eating habits.

Minneapolis scored well because of an example set by their mayor, R.T. Rybak. He exercises up to 5 days a week and participates in public fitness events. This sets an example for Minneapolis residents and motivates them to be more active. Residents (more…)

A magazine named Mens Fitness Magazine decided to rank cities in the United States of America in terms of how fit the people are.

A magazine named Mens Fitness Magazine decided to rank cities in the United States of America in terms of how fit the people are. The magazine found that Salt Lake City is the fittest city. The Magazine looked at fifty of the largest cities in the United States. Salt Lake City is located in Utah. It has a low obesity rate which is a very good thing. People in Salt Lake City do not watch a lot of television. There are also a lot of people in the city that are athletic and like to exercise. Residents of Minneapolis are among the most fit in the country, says Men's Fitness magazine. This news came after the magazine journeyed the country to rank cities from fit to fat and everything in between.<br />

Residents of Minneapolis are among the most fit in the country, says Men’s Fitness magazine. This news came after the magazine journeyed the country to rank cities from fit to fat and everything in between.

This was the 11th annual survey, and the results are always interesting and often surprising. Salt Lake City was at the top of the fit list, Colorado Springs was second and Minneapolis was right up there at number three. The magazine outlined several reasons why Minneapolis scored so high this year. Their Mayor, R.T. Ryback sets a positive example for residents by exercising 6 days a week. He also participates in fitness related public events regularly and much more than other mayors in the survey.

Abbott to buy AMO for $1.4 billion in eye-care deal

On Monday, Abbott Laboratories or ABT, a healthcare products company, announced that it agreed to purchase Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) for approximately $1.36 billion plus the outstanding debt of $57.1 million that AMO reported in September of 2008.

Abbott hopes to increase the company in the market for products caring for eyes and in laser vision equipment.

Finger Length May Predict Financial Success

New research has linked the development of some various bone proteins and the development of what is referred to as good fat.

Oddly enough, a person’s finger length may predict their financial success. A recent University of Cambridge study of 44 London traders found a correlation between the length of the ring finger and the trader’s financial results. The key measurement used was digit ratio, or index finger length divided by ring finger length. Traders in the group with the lower digit ratio earned around 10 times more than traders in the high digit ratio group. Strange as it may sound, the amount of financial success you achieve may only be as much as your ring finger is long. In a recent study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and conducted by British researchers at Cambridge University, scientists discovered that the length of a financial trader’s ring finger has a direct correlation to his financial successes.

These findings are based upon previous research which has demonstrated that the length ratio between the ring finger and the index finger, known as 2D:4D, can be used as a reliable measure of prenatal exposure to testosterone; the lower the ratio, the greater the prenatal exposure. Merck & Co. has come to another setback in trying to widen the use of Gardasil. This is the second time the FDA has not approved this vaccine.

Merck & Co. has come to another setback in trying to widen the use of Gardasil. This is the second time the FDA has not approved this vaccine. The cervical cancer vaccine, Gardasil, was denied by the US Food and Drug Administration for older women ages 27 to 45.

The FDA told Merck in June that it had completed their review of the application and issues were holding it back from being approved within the review period. Merck did come back to the FDA with more information, but it was not enough to get approval. The first application (more…)

NCI Says 80 Percent Survival Rate With Early Diagnosis Of Cancer

New research has linked the development of some various bone proteins and the development of what is referred to as good fat.

According to the National Cancer Institute, with early diagnosis, the survival rate is approximately 80 percent. The NCS advises that females begin having Pap Smears as early as 16 years of age. The CDC advises females as early as 11 years old to get the HPV vaccine. The HPV vaccine was designed to
prevent the growth of cancerous cells.

With early detection and treatment, women have a 92 percent survival rate if determined to be carrying the Human Papillomarvirus. The HPV vaccine can prevent the risk of certain types of cervical cancer.
